Tax Day Scoring Updates
Fairbank, Hudson and Dike take note… Readlyn is leaving you in the dust! With 723 points as of today, the town has almost double the points of Dike, which sits in second place with 385. Fortunately for Fairbank in the final standings it is partnering with Readlyn and competing together with which the town it shares its school (Wapsie Valley). Hudson lags behind, though it has far outpaced the other towns in giving away CFLs.
Readlyn’s strategy thus far is clear: sign up as many people as possible for the free home energy audits from Green Iowa Americorps. At 5 points apiece for both the audit and the follow-up weatherization, those points can add up quickly. Nobody in Hudson has yet taken advantage of this great offering, but when they do expect the community scores to even up quickly!
Individual scores are as follows:
1) Readlyn – 723
2) Dike – 385
3) Fairbank – 259 [corrected 4/18] – 350
4) Hudson – 201
When Readlyn and Fairbank are scored together as Wapsie Valley the competition is much closer.
1) Readlyn/Fairbank – 474 [corrected 4/18] – 529
2) Dike – 400
3) Hudson – 209
(All scores are normalized so as to fairly account for the size of the towns.)
One good use for that tax refund from Uncle Sam would be investing in energy- (and money-) saving things like additional insulation, new Energy Star appliances or efficient lighting. Put that money to work for you today! There is a lot of 2012 left before the final points are tallied and a winner is declared!
